ATHLETE SELECTIONS FOR SINGAPORE LIFESAVING TEAM TO THE LIFESAVING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026

Dear Members,

Shortlisted athletes are invited to selections for the Singapore Lifesaving Team, representing Singapore and the Singapore Life Saving Society for the National Teams Open Lifesaving World Championships 2026.

The National Teams Open Lifesaving World Championships 2026 will be held at Nelson Mandela Bay, Gqeberha, South Africa from 2 to 6 Dec 2026. Expected travel dates are 28 Nov to 9 Dec 2026.

Mandatory pre-requisites for Athlete:

· SLSS Bronze Medallion and SLSS Bronze Cross awards (as of commencement of trials)

· Able to swim 400m under 8 minutes

· Able to run 90m under 30 seconds

· Competed in and are placed overall top 15 individuals in their respective categories (Division A and Division B only) for the latest relevant SLSS endorsed competitions:

· NUS Invitational Lifesaving Championships 2025

· SLSS Singapore Lifesaving Championships 2025 (Still Water Championships)

· SLSS Singapore Lifesaving Championships 2025 (Open Water Championships)

· Or, represented Singapore in Lifesaving Sports in relevant ILS endorsed competitions between 2018-2025.

· Able to commit to all Representative team selection trials, trainings and events, as well as travel with the Representative Team to and back for the relevant competition.

· Pool Trials: 18 July 2026

· Ocean Trials:

· 19 July 2026 (Non-craft events)

· 25 & 26 July 2026 (Craft events)

The Selection Briefing shall only be conducted once. Interested athletes are highly recommended to attend the briefing to understand the selection process and details.

Other requirements and information are listed in the Representative Team and Selection Policy 2026 ("Policy") and list of Shortlisted Athletes. By applying, you are deemed to have read and understood the Policy. Selected athletes will be required to pay a Team Levy of $3,400. Total estimated costs for the trip are around $4,000-$4,500 per person.
